The Chiba series are extra early flowering and have a compact, basal branching plant habit.

In this class of Dianthus, Chiba is the most compact series: only 20-25 cm (8-10 in.). The flowers are 3 cm (1.25 in.) in diameter.
The short and strong flower stems show clusters of well-rounded flowers. Because of its compactness Dianthus Chiba does well in high density pack or small pot and container programs. The series is suitable for production in 10-12 cm (4-5 in.) pots.
Chiba requires less growth regulators and is heat, cold and rain resistant. It is available in twelve colours, a formula mixture of all colours and a mixture of picotee colours named Auricula mix.

How to use growth regulators in Chiba
The most effective treatment is drenching with a mix of 3 cc Cycocel and 1 cc Bonzi/liter. First application 4 weeks after sowing. More applications can be necessary under low light conditions. Treatments at a minimum of 10 days interval. Spray with clean water afterwards to prevent leaf burn. We drench approximately 40-50 cc of the mix in a 9 cm pot.

Spraying cycocel can start 3 weeks after sowing with 3 cc/liter and then weekly gradually going up to 5 cc/liter. Using cycocel spray can cause burning of the
leaf tips.

Bonzi can be used as spray at 1-2 cc/liter.

Stop applications when flower buds appear.
